Our Mission

To secure, invest and distribute the necessary resources to support the educational objectives of the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors.

AFA Annual Meeting Scholarships

The Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors Foundation is pleased to offer several scholarships for members to attend the 2009 Annual Meeting to be held December 6-10 in Jacksonville, Florida. Annual Meeting attendees value the opportunities for professional development and networking at the conference, and the generosity of our donors makes it possible for more people to take advantage of those opportunities.

There are several new sponsored and endowed scholarships in 2009:

  • The Alpha Epsilon Pi Foundation is sponsoring a scholarship for one campus-based professional member affiliated with a campus that has an Alpha Epsilon Pi chapter.
  • Gamma Sigma Alpha has endowed the “Beth Saul Gamma Sigma Alpha Scholarship” to honor Beth, the former Executive Director of Gamma Sigma Alpha.  Their scholarship is for a campus-based professional member affiliated with a campus that has a Gamma Sigma Alpha chapter.
  • AFA member Blake Bradley has endowed the “Marlin-Bradley Ally Scholarship” in memory of Leslie Kay Marlin, an alumna of the OE chapter of Delta Zeta Sorority, for the support she provided to members of the fraternity/sorority community who were members of the GLBT community.  To embody the true spirit of Leslie, this scholarship has been established by Blake to reward those outstanding professional and graduate members of AFA that strive to create fraternity/sorority chapters and/or communities where all members, regardless of their sexual orientation, are welcome as equals.
  • The AFA Foundation is grateful for ALL of our scholarship sponsors.  If you are interested in sponsoring or endowing a scholarship, please contact Tom Jelke, Foundation Chairman, or the AFA Foundation office at foundation@fraternityadvisors.org.

The 2009 Annual Meeting Scholarship Application is available here .  Please note that all applications must be received by September 1, 2009.

Rick Barnes Interfraternity Institute
Scholarship Application

The Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors Foundation is pleased to provide one (1) scholarship for a campus-based Professional member of the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors to attend the Interfraternity Institute (IFI). The Rick Barnes Interfraternity Institute Scholarship is provided annually and covers all registration expenses related to the program.

Rick Barnes is a member of FarmHouse Fraternity. A long time member of the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors, Rick served the Association as president in 1996. He was instrumental in founding the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors Foundation and was the chairman from 1997 (at that time, the past president of Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors was also president of the Association of Fraternity Advisors Foundation) to 2000. Barnes has also served for eight years on the FarmHouse international board of directors, two of those years as the international vice president.

Barnes has maintained a lifelong commitment to the fraternity community. Currently, he is a member of the North-American Interfraternity Conference Board of Directors. Professionally, Barnes can be seen on college campuses as a member of the CAMPUSPEAK team of speakers.

Because of Barnes’ dedication to AFA and the professional development opportunities the Association provides, the Interfraternity Institute Scholarship was named in his honor upon his retirement from the Association of Fraternity Advisors Foundation Board in 2000.
